20-year-old bowler will give Mumbai Indians the first title of WPL
New Delhi. Mumbai Indians created history a day ago by taking a hat-trick against UP Warriors in the Eliminator of the Women’s Premier League. Issy Wong, 20, became the first bowler to take a hat-trick in the WPL. Issy hunted Kiran Navgire, Simran Sheikh and then Sophie Alexton in the 13th over of UP Warriors. Mumbai won this match by 72 runs and booked the final ticket.
Right-arm fast bowler Issy Wong had made her debut in all three formats for England only 9 months ago. His cricket journey started after coming to Warwickshire. She was selected for the England Academy in 2019-20 after impressive performances in the Women’s Cricket Super League and the Rachel Hayhoe Flint Trophy. The next year, Wong got an entry in the England-A team. He made his debut in all three formats against South Africa last year.
Issy Wong was born in England. But, his father is of Hong Kong origin. Issy’s two uncles played cricket for Hong Kong. At the same time, the great-grandmother also received a medal for spying for Britain.
Issi did not get a chance to play T20 World Cup
Issy Wong was one of the 7 players bought by England in the WPL auction held in February this year and was the only one who was not included in England’s T20 World Cup squad. It proved to be heartbreaking for Issi. However, he was relieved of one thing that in the WPL auction, he was bought by Mumbai Indians for a base price of 30 lakhs, the team of which he has been a fan since childhood.
Mumbai Indians fan since childhood
Issy told in an interview that she used to run away from school and go home early. To watch the match of Mumbai Indians and now played Women’s Premier League for the same team and became the first bowler to take a hat-trick in the history of the league.

He is the highest wicket taker fast bowler in the league. The team of which Issy Wong has been a fan since childhood, she at least made it to the finals. But, the work is still incomplete and she has already said this. It is clear that Issi is now eyeing the WPL title.
