WTC Final: Who should be in playing-XI, Shardul or Ashwin, Team India confused

New Delhi. After the ‘action-packed’ game of IPL 2023, now is the time for a tough test of the patience and technique of the Indian players. The final of the World Test Championship is to be played between India and Australia (India vs Australia) at the Oval ground in England from June 7. Since the matter is ICC Trophy, both the teams are not ready to leave any stone unturned to win. The Rohit Sharma brigade is eyeing the ‘final punch’ to end its many years of ‘dry’ of the ICC trophy. Earlier the team made it to the final in 2021 but had to lose to New Zealand.

After getting a break from IPL, players of both the teams have reached England to perform ‘National Duty’ and are engaged in intense practice. For the WTC Final, an important issue before the Indian team is to decide the playing-XI.

The 9 places in the playing XI are almost fixed but feed KS Bharat as a wicketkeeper or the aggressive Ishaan Kishan and R.K. On whom to bet in Ashwin or Shardul Thakur, these two big questions are in front of him. Captain Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohd. Shami, Umesh Yadav and Mohd. Siraj is sure to play.

Ishaan can get a chance as a wicketkeeper
It is believed that due to the left-handed batsman and aggressive game, Ishaan Kishan can get a place in the 11 players as a wicketkeeper. If this happens, Ishaan will start his Test career from this match. The problem is coming in the selection of one player from Ashwin / Shardul. Both of them have their own plus points. Shardul is presenting his claim with his swing bowling and batting. On the other hand, Ashwin’s role can also be important considering the possibility of helping spin bowlers in the oval wicket. Former off-spinner Harbhajan Singh also believes that in the event of a dry wicket, it would be better for India to go with two spinners.

Ashwin has taken 114 wickets against Australia
Shardul Thakur, who has played 8 Tests so far, has played only one Test against Australia in which he took 7 wickets. Has also scored a half-century against Australia in batting. On the other hand, being the highest wicket-taker in the current Indian team, Ashwin has taken 114 wickets in 22 Tests against Australia at an average of 28.36. However, his record against Australia on his own ground is not good where he has taken 39 wickets in 10 Tests at an average of 42.15. It should also be kept in mind that the final is being held in England where Ashwin has a good bowling record, taking 18 wickets in 7 matches at an average of 28.11. Ashwin is also an expert in batting and has scored 5 centuries in Tests.
