ZIM vs BAN: A ‘no-ball’ extended the wait for victory celebrations, Zimbabwe’s batter said a big deal

Bangladesh beat Bangladesh in T20 World Cup
Full on drama in the match over a no-ball

Brisbane, Seasoned Zimbabwe batsman Sean Williams on Sunday termed as “weird” the incident of the final ball being declared a ‘no-ball’ in the T20 World Cup here in which Bangladesh won by three runs. In this unprecedented incident, players from both the teams were called back from the dugout as the last ball was found to be a ‘no-ball’.

Williams said, ‘It was very strange. Of course we haven’t experienced anything like this in a cricket match before, but in a T20 match, there is little hope that anything can happen. The first time I saw a no-ball was when we were going to shake hands with the umpire and he stopped us and then the replay came on the big screen. That’s when we saw that it was a no-ball. It was very interesting.

Bangladesh batsman Najmul Hossain Shanto scored a career-best 71 runs. He said, ‘Yes, it was a completely new experience for us. But we knew we could do well so Mosaddek bowled very well under pressure. To be honest, I was a little nervous. But we were confident that we could do it.

Bangladesh are now second in the table with negative run rate, to which Shanto said, ‘No, we are not thinking about the run rate. We are looking to win the match. Yes, we are not thinking that net run rate will be a part of this tournament but our focus is only on winning the match.
