In the Global NCAP (GNCAP) crash test, the Tata Nexon has been rated 5 stars for adult protection and 3 stars for child protection, while the XUV300 has been rated 5 stars for adult protection and 4 stars for child protection. In this sense, the XUV300 is safer than the Nexon.

The Mahindra XUV300 is more powerful than the Tata Nexon in terms of engine and performance as well. The 1.2-litre turbo charged petrol engine of the Mahindra XUV300 generates 110PS of power and 200Nm of torque. At the same time, Tata Nexon’s 1.2-liter turbo charged petrol engine gives 120PS power and 170Nm torque.

In terms of safety, the Mahindra XUV300 gets features like 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, all-wheel disc brakes, corner braking control and front and rear parking sensors. The Nexon, on the other hand, gets features like dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, rear-view camera, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) and ISOFIX child-seat anchors.

Mahindra XUV300 price ranges from Rs. 8.42 lakh to Rs. 14.60 lakh (ex-showroom pan-India). The Tata Nexon, on the other hand, is priced between Rs 7.80 lakh to Rs 14.50 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The ‘Red Dark’ variant of the subcompact SUV starts from ₹ 12.45 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
