Ads will appear on Telegram content soon, creators will earn

Telegram Paid Subscriptions: Earlier this year, popular instant messaging service Telegram released a premium membership model. Under which, in the form of membership, Telegram users were given special facilities. Such as- the facility to follow more channels and download files at the fastest speed. Recently, Telegram has been seen experimenting with paid messaging and media, a feature that monetizes creators’ content. According to a report by 9To5Mac, Telegram is testing paid posts.

Learn how paid posts can appear on Telegram

As seen in the screenshot shared by Matt Navarra, the paid posts seemed to be locked behind a paywall. Posts can include images, videos and even text messages, and they can only be viewed once when the user pays a specified amount with the help of a button in the center. Otherwise, video and photo previews will be blurred and messages will be shortened.

In a post, Telegram CEO Pavel Durov said that some content creators have started using third party payment bots to sell reach to personal posts in their Telegram channels. This way, they can get almost 100% of the payment made by their customers. However, Cupertino-based tech giant Apple took up the issue with Telegram, saying it has a problem monetizing its content without paying 30% tax.

Therefore, Telegram had to disable bots on iOS devices. In his statement, Durov further said, this is just another example of how a trillion-dollar company abuses its market dominance at the cost of millions of users who are trying to monetize their content.

Earlier apps like Fortnite were removed from the Apple App Store for not complying with payment guidelines. If paid posts are created on Telegram, then other social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram and even WhatsApp can follow it.
