iPhone 15 series: 10 things we know so far
The new Dynamic Island feature can be found in the iPhone 15 Pro variant, which we have seen on the iPhone 14 Pro model. It has also been reported that the standard model, apart from the iPhone 14, will also get this feature, which has an older design. This means that punch-hole display design can be introduced in all the next generation iPhones.
The standard model will still lack support for Apple’s promotion technology, which is no different as Apple has always limited it to the higher-priced variants. The promotion is similar to the LTPO technology seen on Android phones. It can automatically customize the refresh rate between 1Hz to 120Hz depending on the content. It helps in saving battery so iPhone 15 Pro will get it.
Apple may offer the same back panel design that it has been offering on several older models. The leaks so far have also suggested the same, so we can see a circular shaped module in the top left corner of the phone and the setup could include multiple cameras.
Several leaks have indicated that the iPhone 15 series will come with a USB-C port. Apple is reportedly planning to remove its own Lightning port. This could very well be true considering that USB Type-C will become mandatory in the EU region just a few months after the launch of the iPhone 15 series.
Rumors have revealed that Apple will keep the old chipset with the low-cost model and the new chipset with the Pro variant. The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus could house Apple’s A15 chipset. While the Pro and Ultra models will use the new Apple A17 Bionic chip.
It is said that the Pro model in the iPhone 15 series can offer the capability to shoot 8K videos, which is still missing in this year’s iPhone 14 series. The same feature will reportedly not make it to the other two iPhone models.
The company may rename the Apple Pro Max model to the iPhone 15 Ultra. It is being told that there will be a periscope lens along with other sensors towards its rear. It reportedly won’t be available on the regular Pro model. But the periscope lens will mean that users will be able to capture larger portraits with background blur and sharp foreground. People will be able to click clear shots even from a distance, as periscope zoom cameras will help in reducing the distance between a photographer and his subject.
All models in the iPhone 15 series are expected to offer better battery life than the previous versions. The devices will ship with iOS 17 operating system out of the box.
As per the details shared by analyst Ming Chi Kuo, the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Ultra may come with a solid-state button design. This will help a person respond to users’ touch without physically pressing the button, similar to the home button design seen on the iPhone 7, iPhone 8 and a few other models.
There are no details on the price range for the new models as of now. But Apple may decide to keep the same old prices for the standard model. The price of the Pro variant may be slightly higher. Now that leaks suggest that Apple is planning to replace the Pro Max with an Ultra variant to offer users the best of everything with it, it will be priced significantly higher than this year’s model.
