Car sales picked up pace in January, sales boomed, these companies dominated

New Delhi. Major vehicle manufacturers like Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai and Tata Motors have registered positive growth in wholesale sales in January. Most of the vehicle companies registered good sales due to better semiconductor chip supply and better demand.

During this period, Maruti’s total passenger vehicle sales in the domestic market increased by 14 percent to 1,55,142 units.

Maruti’s sales increased
MSI senior executive officer Shashank Srivastava said that production is still facing problems due to shortage of semiconductor supply. Therefore, along with wholesale sales, there is an impact on retail sales as well. Similarly, the total sales of Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) also increased by 16.6 percent to 62,276 units last month. It had sold 53,427 units in the same month a year ago. During this period, the domestic sales of the company also increased from 44,022 units to 50,106 units.

good sale of hyundai
HMIL director Tarun Garg said, “We have registered growth in double digits in the first month of the calendar year 2023. Our SUVs – Tucson, Creta, Venue, Alcazar and Kona maintained strong sales momentum in their respective segments with sales of 27,532 units last month.” Another automaker Tata Motors reported a growth of 6.4 per cent in total sales during January. It became 81,069 units. It had sold a total of 76,210 units in the same month a year ago.

domestic sale increased
During this period, its total sales in the domestic market increased by 10 percent to 79,681 units. During this period, domestic sales of its passenger vehicles, including electric vehicles, increased by 18 percent to 48,289 units. However, its domestic commercial vehicle sales declined by seven percent last month. In addition, total vehicle sales of Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) Ltd increased by 37 percent to 64,335 units. During this period, its total passenger vehicle sales increased by 65 percent to 33,040 units.
