Cheapest car with sunroof feature, CNG option also, safety rating 5 stars

New Delhi. Gone are the days when sunroof was considered a premium feature of exclusive and expensive cars. Now this feature is not limited to luxury cars. Now it has become quite a popular feature among mass-segment cars as well. Tata Motors is one of those car manufacturers which is a game changer in the market. The carmaker recently added the feature of a sunroof to its Altroz ​​hatchback model lineup. It has now become the cheapest car in India to offer a sunroof.

The sunroof equipped variant of the Altroz ​​costs Rs 45,000 more when compared to the non-sunroof variant in the same trim. The rival Maruti Baleno lacks a sunroof feature and the Hyundai i20 gets a sunroof in the Asta and Asta (O) trims, which start at Rs. 9.03 lakhs. However, Hyundai will soon bring the Hyundai Exter micro SUV with a single-pane sunroof. Its top trims will feature a sunroof. It will be the most affordable SUV from Hyundai and is also expected to be the cheapest car to come with a sunroof.

Engine & Power
The Tata Altroz ​​model lineup gets 1.2L NA petrol, 1.2L turbo petrol and 1.5L diesel engine options. The NA and the turbocharged petrol engine are capable of generating 86bhp and 110bhp respectively. Whereas, the diesel engine can generate 90bhp. The car comes with a 5-speed gearbox as standard while the 6-speed DCT automatic transmission can only be bought with the 1.2L NA petrol engine.

CNG option also available
Recently the carmaker has added 6 CNG variants to the Tata Altroz ​​range and these are priced between Rs. 7.55 lakh to Rs. 10.55 lakh. It uses a 1.2L petrol engine with a dual-cylinder CNG setup. On CNG mode, this engine is capable of generating peak power of 77bhp and torque of 103Nm.
