Coming Hyundai’s smallest SUV, Tata Punch will get tough competition, launch timeline revealed

New Delhi. Hyundai Motor India recently introduced the 6th Gen Hyundai Verna with significant design and feature upgrades. The next big launch from the South Korean automaker will be a micro SUV, which is reported to hit the roads during the 2023 festive season. Recently, a test mule of the new Hyundai micro SUV (Ai3) was caught on camera with heavy camouflage covering most of its design details. Codenamed Hyundai Ai3, the mini SUV is likely to get a new design language and boxy stance from the brand.

The design and styling of the new Hyundai micro SUV will be different from the Casper, which is sold in selected global markets. It will feature a differently designed body panel with Hyundai’s new LED DRLs, circular fog lamps, alloy wheels and angular taillamps along with Venue-inspired split-setup headlamps. Steel wheels can be found in the lower variants. The Hyundai Ai3 will share its platform with the Grand i10 Nios hatchback.

The Ai3 is expected to measure around 3.8 meters in length, thus making it the smallest SUV offering from Hyundai in India. This means that it will be smaller than the Hyundai Casper which measures 3595mm in length, 1595mm in width and 1575mm-1605mm in height. Its wheelbase is 2400mm. The interior details of the new Hyundai micro SUV are still under wraps. However, it is expected to come with a touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, a semi-digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control, a sunroof, rear AC vents and connected car tech.
