Entry of 2 strong hybrid cars to be held in India, Maruti and Honda’s big bet

New Delhi. The robust hybrid car market has seen considerable growth with the launch of products like Honda City Hybrid, Maruti Grand Vitara Hybrid and Toyota Hyrider Hybrid. While the strong hybrid technology is in its nascent stage in India. Currently, Toyota’s Header is the best selling robust hybrid model, followed by Grand Vitara and City. Car makers like Maruti Suzuki and Honda will bring new models to tap this growing market. Here are some important details about the upcoming powerful hybrid SUV and MPV.

The new Honda mid-size SUV is all set to make its global premiere in June 2023, followed by its India launch. The model will be based on the City’s platform and most of its design elements will be shared with Honda’s global SUV. It will measure around 4.2-4.3 meters in length and will come with 1.5L petrol and 1.5L petrol strong hybrid powertrain options.

Although initially it will be offered with petrol engine only. There will be no diesel engine. Transmission options will include 6-speed manual and CVT gearbox. Features like ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System), connected car tech, 360-degree cameras and multiple airbags could be on offer. The prices of the new Honda SUV are likely to start from Rs 12 lakh to Rs 19 lakh.

Engine & Power
Maruti Suzuki is all set to enter the premium MPV segment by the end of this year. There is news of this model being launched in August 2023. It will be based on the Toyota Innova Hycross which comes with a 2.0L petrol strong hybrid and a 2.0L naturally aspirated petrol engine. While the former is good for 186PS and 206Nm, the latter makes 174PS along with 205Nm. The same powertrain will be offered on the new Maruti MPV. This will be the first offering from the Indo-Japanese automaker to come with ADAS technology. Most of its features and components will be similar to the Innova Highcross. However, the carmaker will make some cosmetic changes to the new MPV.
