Gadkari strict about 15 years old vehicles, said- Government vehicles will also be converted into junk

New Delhi. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has once again shown strictness regarding the scrap policy. He said on Friday that all vehicles older than 15 years of the Government of India will also be converted into junk and the policy related to this has been sent to the states. Gadkari said this during the inauguration of a program. He said, “I signed a file yesterday under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Under this, all vehicles of the Government of India that are more than 15 years old will be converted into junk. I have sent this policy of Government of India to all the states. They should also adopt it at the state level.

Gadkari said that two plants of Indian Oil in Panipat are almost operational, one of which will produce one lakh liters of ethanol per day, while the other plant will manufacture 150 tonnes of bio-bitumen per day using rice straw. He said that these plants will reduce the problem of stubble burning. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan was the chief guest on this occasion. He praised Gadkari’s efforts.

What is scrap policy
Scrapping means that if someone has a car that is more than 15 years old, then its registration will be cancelled. Can’t drive that car on the road. If a person is caught doing this, he can be fined. Commercial vehicles older than 10 years and private passenger vehicles older than 15 years will have to pass the fitness test. It is mandatory to undergo fitness test. If your vehicle fails the fitness test, then you will have to deposit your vehicle in 60-70 registered scrap facilities across the country.

If a person’s vehicle is not fit and is 15 years old, then that person will be given a deposit certificate in exchange for the old vehicle. If you go to buy a new vehicle, you will get many benefits. You will get the scrap value of the old vehicle which will be equal to 5 percent of the showroom price of the new vehicle. Also, there will be no need to pay registration fees. At the same time, the state government can give road tax exemption to the customer up to 25% for private vehicles and 15% for commercial vehicles.
