The Gas app became the free iPhone app and the top social networking app to be downloaded from the App Store.
Users signing up in this app only have to tell about their high school and class.
The Gas app is currently only for the iPhone and is working in a dozen states of the US.
About five years ago the TBH app was at the top of the Apple Store. They used to praise each other on this app which became very popular among teenagers. On seeing this lakhs of high school students joined it. However, Facebook broke it within three months of the launch of this app and soon it was closed. Now one of the creators of TBH has created almost a similar app Gas for the iPhone. This app asks teens about the people in their school like who is the best person you met this year or which classmate of yours keeps getting into trouble every time.
The Gas app last week became the most popular free iPhone app and the top social networking app to be downloaded from the App Store. Launched in August this year, Gas has been downloaded more than five lakh times so far.
In this app, like TBH, users are asked questions praising each other, which have been given the term ‘Gas Up’ to each other. Users signing up to this app only have to mention their high school and class, so that only their classmates can be asked questions.
On being selected in this poll, they get a notification of ‘Flames’. Its voting is kept secret, the user just gets to know what is the gender of those who vote for them and which class they are students of. On the other hand, if you want to know the name of your fan or hide your name in the poll results, then the user will have to take the paid service of this app.
The Gas app is currently only for the iPhone and is working in a dozen states of the US. However, seeing the speed with which it is becoming popular, it is expected to spread all over the world soon.
