Now Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI), the largest scooter selling company in the country, has also announced to jump into the segment. This announcement by the company has worried many electric two-wheeler manufacturers, as the Honda Activa is the best-selling petrol scooter in the country. If the company launches an electric scooter, then they are expected to get tremendous response.

Honda on Wednesday announced that it will launch two different electric two-wheelers in India with swappable batteries in the next financial year. The two-wheeler maker also said that it will launch mid-range electric two-wheelers. However, the auto company did not reveal in what form the upcoming EV scooter or motorcycle will come. The Japanese auto company further added that it aims to manufacture 10 electric two-wheelers every year by 2030.

The company will also make charging points at different places.
HMSI further said that it will manufacture two electric vehicles for the Indian market at the Narsapura plant in Karnataka. Also, apart from the Indian market, the auto company is planning to export these EVs to global markets. Apart from launching electric two-wheelers, the company aims to build 6,000 charging stations across the country to facilitate EV owners to charge their batteries.

Honda has also not revealed which will be the upcoming two electric two-wheelers. One of them could be an all-electric scooter based on the popular Activa range while the other could be the Honda EM1e, which was showcased at the EICMA. Can give a range of 40 km on a single charge. The EM1e has a swappable battery.
