Honda’s new SUV has come to compete with Venue and Brezza, great features and strong engine


Honda has unveiled its new generation WR-V SUV.
The new SUV is equipped with connected car technology and advanced safety features.
The SUV will rival the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Tata Nexon and Hyundai Venue.

New Delhi. Honda Cars today took the wraps off the new generation WR-V subcompact SUV. The Japanese carmaker has first introduced the small SUV for the Indonesian markets. Its current generation model is sold in India right now. Honda has completely revamped its new generation WR-V SUV with new looks and features. It is now bigger than the model sold in India and comes with connected car technology and advanced safety features.

The new WR-V will also get remote functioning, which allows the car to be locked or unlocked without a key. After starting the car remotely, the auto cooling function is also activated in it. Honda is currently exploring the possibilities of launching the new WR-V in India. When launched, it will take on other sub-compact SUVs such as Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Tata Nexon and Hyundai Venue.

SUV is already bigger in size

The new generation model of the Honda WR-V will get a bold looking grille surrounded by slim headlights. The SUV has now been increased in length, width and height. It is about 60 mm longer, 46 mm wider and 7 mm higher than the WR-V sold in India. The new WR-V also gets a ground clearance of 220 mm. The new Honda WR-V will get 16-inch and 17-inch alloys.

Great features will also be found inside

Many changes have also been made to the interior of the WR-V. The center console gets a digital infotainment screen and a semi-digital TFT driver display which measures 4.2 inches in size. The boot space has also been increased to 380 liters, which is 7 liters more than the model available in India. Honda has also included split seats at the rear to increase the boot space.

Engine will be more powerful than before

The new SUV will get the 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine, which is available in Honda City in India. This engine can produce a maximum power of 121 PS and peak torque of 145 Nm. It is about 30 PS more powerful and 35 Nm more torque than the India-spec model. The engine comes with a CVT transmission. Honda is not offering any diesel engine in the new generation WR-V model.
