Mahindra’s entry into the EV segment, introduced 5 new electric SUVs


Mahindra has announced its entry into the EV segment.
The company took the wraps off 5 electric SUVs.
They are expected to be launched in India in 2024-25.

New Delhi. Domestic SUV maker, Mahindra & Mahindra has officially introduced 5 new electric SUVs – XUV.e8, XUV.e9, BE.05, BE.07 and BE.09. While the XUV EV will be the first to hit our market from 2024 onwards, the BE range will be the first to go on sale in 2025. All 5 electric SUVs will share the platform and battery module; However, all will be different in terms of output.

What are the features?
The first Mahindra Born electric model to enter the production line will be the XUV.e8. It is to be launched in the country in December 2024. The new Mahindra XUV.e8 is based on the INGLO platform which is the Bourne Electric platform. However, it has the same basic layout and silhouette and three rows of seats as the Mahindra XUV700. Mahindra has made some changes to make it stand out from the XUV700. It comes with an EV-like front fascia, which houses a full-width LED light bar and close-off front grille. At the front, there are bumper mounted headlamps and a sculpted bonnet. The rear looks a lot like the XUV700; However, it gets a new bumper design.

In terms of proportions, the new Mahindra XUV.e8 is 4,740 mm tall, 1,900 mm wide and 1,760 mm tall and has a wheelbase of 2,762 mm. It is about 45 mm longer, 10 mm wider and 5 mm longer than the XUV700, while the wheelbase has increased by 7 mm. The new XUV.e8 electric SUV will get an all-wheel drive system and 80kWh battery pack. It has been claimed to give power output in the range of 230hp to 350hp.

coupe design
The new XUV.e9 electric SUV will be launched by April 2025. This is a brand new electric model, which comes with a coupe-like design. Dimensionally, the Mahindra XUV.e9 electric SUV will measure 4,790mm in length, 1,905mm in width and 1,690mm in height. It will be a 5-seater model and will be powered by a 2,775mm long wheelbase.

The design inspiration for the new XUV.e9 comes from the XUV Aero concept. It shares LED lighting elements from the XUV.e8, bumper-mounted headlamps and a close-off front grille. It gets a coupe-like design at the rear with a flat tail section. The Coupe EV gets prominent gloss-black cladding all around the body. It is likely to share the battery pack and electric motors with the electric XUV.e8.
