Maruti made a new record, sold 2.5 crore vehicles, every third person has only one car

Maruti Suzuki: The country’s largest car company Maruti Suzuki has achieved a major achievement in the first month of the year 2023. Maruti Suzuki has told that on January 9, it has touched the figure of selling 25 million i.e. 25 million cars in the Indian market. This is the highest ever number of vehicles sold by any car manufacturer in the country. The carmaker started its business in the country from 1983. According to an estimate, the total number of passenger cars present in the country so far is around 70 million. According to this, every third car in the country is of Maruti only.

Maruti Suzuki, a subsidiary of Suzuki Motor Corporation, launched the Maruti 800 for the first time in the country in December 1983, then never looked back after that. This was a time when it was rare for Indians to own personal cars. Till this time only a few rich people of the country had their own cars. In these 40 years, the Indian car industry grew and with time the preferences of the Indian customers also changed.

CNG cars got an edge
Maruti Suzuki had crossed the figure of selling 50 lakh cars in India in 2006, till then the company used to sell only models like WagonR, Swift and Alto, but after that the company started launching new models in the market. By August 2010, the company had become one of the first companies to offer CNG technology. Due to the increasing popularity of CNG kit, small and economical options, the company had made a record of selling 10 million cars by February 2012. This figure doubled by July of 2019.

The company also sells SUVs along with small cars.
Presently Maruti Suzuki remains the number 1 company in the Indian car segment and sells a total of 17 models. Maruti Suzuki has recently been strengthening its portfolio in the growing SUV model, as well as making efforts to popularize hybrid and CNG models. The company has recently launched some big cars, which include the Grand Vitara. This is Maruti’s first strong hybrid SUV model. Apart from this, the company has also recently launched Brezza, Jimny and Franks SUVs.
