Maruti Suzuki showed power, cars sold in October


Maruti Suzuki is the largest car manufacturer in India.
The company registered a tremendous sale in October 2022.
The company’s performance was also excellent in terms of imports.

New Delhi. The country’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki registered a tremendous sale in October 2022. The company registered a strong growth of 28.76 percent. The company sold a total of 1,40,337 units. The company had sold 108,991 units in the same month last year.

Including export units, the company sold 167,520 total units in October. 98,621 units were sold in the mini and compact car segment. This segment includes models like Alto and S-Presso and Baleno, Celerio, Ignis, Dizre, Swift, Wagon R and Tour S.

In the Utility Vehicle (UV) segment, the company managed to sell 30,971 units as against 27,081 units. Its UV product portfolio includes Brezza, Grand Vitara, XL6, Ertiga and S-Cross. Maruti Ciaz mid-size sedan and Eeco van registered sales of 1,884 units and 8,861 units respectively. With domestic sales of 2,913 units, Maruti Super Carry witnessed a decline of 23.28 per cent as against 3,797 units in October 2021. In fact, the company’s exports declined by 4.09 percent. Maruti Suzuki last month exported 20,448 units as against 21,322 units in October 2021.

The company aims to expand its SUV product portfolio with the launch of new models including Maruti Baleno Cross, 5-door Jimny and a new C-segment MPV. All three UVs are likely to debut at the 2023 Auto Expo in January. The Baleno Cross (codenamed YTB) will be the basis of the Heartect platform and will share many features with the Baleno hatch and the Brezza SUV.

The coupe SUV is expected to come with a 1.0-litre Boosterjet petrol engine that makes 100bhp and 150Nm. There could also be a 1.2L DualJet petrol engine with manual and automatic gearbox options. The 5-door Jimny will be offered as a lifestyle off-road SUV to take on the upcoming 5-door Mahindra Thar and Force Gurkha. The new Maruti C-segment MPV will be based on the Toyota Innova HighCross which is due in early 2023.
