MG’s ‘small’ electric car may be costlier than Tata Tiago, know when it will be launched

New Delhi. Tata Motors has introduced Tata Tiago EV in the Indian market some time back. Since its launch, this car is constantly being discussed in the market. Now MG is also preparing to launch its new electric car in India to compete with this car. This car will be launched in the Indian market by the year 2023.

The MG City EV will be the company’s second electric car in India. This car will knock in the Indian market by April 2023. It will be a compact two door EV that will be based on the Wuling Air EV sold in China.

Tiago EV Vs MG City EV
The City EV is MG’s small electric car but in terms of pricing, it could be costlier than the Tata Tiago. Rajiv Chaba, President and MD, MG Motor India said, “We do not believe in proposing the cheapest car in our segment. Our focus is to provide our customers with latest technology and products at affordable prices. We are looking to create our own segment and provide daily commute solution with our new EVs.”

In its only electric model, the ZS EV SUV, MG Motor India posted total sales of 1,591 units in the first half of FY2023. Now the increase in the sales of this car can be clearly seen. The company said that we are accelerating our EV production and doing 500 units per sale from October. For the launch of the new model, the company is also strengthening its production capacity at its Halol plant in Gujarat.
