PVR Multiplex: Every Indian family wants to go to the cinema hall and enjoy the movie. But in recent years, watching movies in cinema halls is taking a toll on the pocket. Because after the Corona period, movie tickets have become expensive as well as snacks available in multiplexes have also become very expensive. And on weekends, going to see a movie is more heavy on the pocket. For a family of four, watching a movie in a multiplex costs Rs 1500 to 3000.
Whenever a family goes to a cinema in multiplexes, popcorn is their favorite snack. But expensive popcorn is becoming out of reach of the people. Due to which multiplexes are on target of the people. But Ajay Bijli, MD of PVR has also given clarification on this issue. According to media reports, he said that criticizing that popcorn is expensive cannot be justified. But no change can be made in the prices of food and beverages available in multiplexes.
He said that when we are moving from single screen to multiplex, then the operational cost of multiplexes has increased. To cover this expensive cost, the prices of snacks have to be increased. According to Ajay Bijli, the food and beverage business in the multiplex is worth Rs 1500 crore. There are many screens in a multiplex, which increases the cost by 4 to 6 times. Multiplexes range from multiple projection rooms to sound systems at an additional cost.
At the same time, Hindi films, which are continuously flopping in recent times, have also increased the problems of multiplex companies. Aamir Khan’s Lal Singh Chaddha and Akshay Kumar’s Raksha Bandhan flopped. Laal Singh Chaddha was made at a cost of Rs 210 crore but has been able to collect only 45 crores at the box office. Raksha Bandhan was made at a cost of Rs 120 crore, which has been able to raise only Rs 35 crore so far. The apathy towards Bollywood movies has also increased the concern of multiplex companies.
