The Ashok Hotel Under NMP: Big news related to “The Ashok Hotel” present in Chanakyapuri of the national capital Delhi is coming to the fore. Now ‘The Ashok Hotel’ is ready for sale, its price has also been fixed. Under the National Monetization Pipeline (NMP) scheme, the Modi government at the Center has fixed the indicative price of this prestigious hotel in Delhi at Rs 7,409 crore.
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman started the NPS scheme in the year 2021. Under which ‘The Ashoka’ Hotel and its adjacent Hotel Samrat are the properties of Indian Tourism Development Corporation, have been listed in this plan. Investors have been discussed in this regard and the approval of the Union Cabinet for the sale of the hotel is under consideration.
Price fixed at Rs 7,409 crore
The Ashok Hotel is spread over an area of 25 acres in Delhi. Ashoka Hotel will be monetized through private-public partnership. For this, a symbolic price of Rs 7,409 crore has been fixed. Minister Sitharaman had announced an NMP of Rs 6 lakh crore for 4 years in August 2021 to leverage the value of infrastructure assets in several sectors. After which the central government has so far monetized assets worth Rs 33,422 crore under NMP in 2022-23.
Ministry of Coal at the forefront
Explain that NITI Aayog had prepared the report on NMP in consultation with the infrastructure line ministries. According to this report, in a meeting with NITI Aayog CEO Parameswaran Iyer on November 14, the Finance Minister reviewed the progress of NMP implementation. The government has monetized assets worth Rs 33,422 crore under NMP in 2022-23. In terms of monetization, the Ministry of Coal tops the list by raising Rs 17,000 crore.
This much target was kept for monetization
The Modi government has crossed the target of Rs 88,000 crore in the first year of the program by completing transactions worth Rs 1 lakh crore in 2021-22. According to the latest NPS data, there is likely to be a shortfall of Rs 38,243 crore in achieving the overall asset monetization target of Rs 1,62,422 crore in 2022-23. On the other hand, in the current financial year, the possible recovery from asset monetization under NMP is estimated to be Rs 1,24,179 crore.
Nehru had built the hotel
The Ashok Hotel located in Chanakyapuri has 7 floors and 550 rooms. The specialty of the luxuriously built Ashok Hotel is found here on seeing the largest convention hall without pillars. Hotel Ashok was built by India’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru on 25 acres of parkland donated to the government by Prince Karan Singh of Jammu and Kashmir. Ashok Hotel’s map was prepared under the leadership of famous architect EB Doctor.
