Under ‘Make in India’, this company has made more than 20 lakh cars, these are popular models


Honda Cars India’s production has crossed 20 lakh units.
Honda currently manufactures popular cars like City and Amaze.
The company discontinued cars like Accord and Civic sedans last year.

New Delhi. Honda Cars India’s total production figure in India has crossed 20 lakh units. The company gave this information on Monday. The company has produced the 20 lakhth car at its Tapukara plant in Rajasthan. The company started production in India in December 1997. Since commencing operations, the company has so far invested Rs 10,000 crore in India.

“The production figure of 2 million units reflects Honda’s commitment to ‘Make in India’ over the past 25 years,” Takuya Tsumura, President and Chief Executive Officer, Honda Cars India said in the statement. Apart from selling its City and Amaze sedan vehicles in the domestic market, the company also exports them to more than 15 markets.

These are the popular cars of Honda
Honda currently manufactures cars like City and Amaze sedans, WR-V SUVs and Jazz hatchbacks. Of these four models, Honda also sells a hybrid variant of the City sedan, which was launched earlier this year. The company also plans to bring a new compact SUV to the Indian market by next year.

The company has closed these cars
Honda has also discontinued many such models, which were once sold in India earlier. Some of these cars include Accord and Civic sedans, CR-V SUVs and MPVs like the BR-V and Mobilio. The company has also discontinued one of its hatchback Brio made till 2019. Honda discontinued the production of the Civic and CR-V in December 2020.

Honda sales increased in October
Honda Cars India’s domestic wholesale sales grew by 18 per cent to 9,543 units in October 2022. The company had dispatched 8,108 units to dealers in the domestic market in October last year. The automaker exported 1,678 units last month as compared to 1,747 units in the same period a year ago.
