9 people died after eating poisonous food in Pakistan (symbolic picture)
Karachi: A heartbreaking news has come from Pakistan’s Sindh province. Nine people, including eight siblings, have died after allegedly eating poisonous food. One person has been admitted to the hospital. The deceased include five sisters and three brothers, aged between four and 18 years. After this incident, there was panic in the entire area.
The bodies were returned to the relatives without post-mortem
According to the report of Dawn newspaper, the incident took place on Monday night in Haibat Khan Brohi village near Pir-Jo-Goth in Khairpur district. Here a 10-member family and their guests started fainting soon after eating dinner. Their relatives and neighbors took them to the hospital where three members of the family died. Due to the absence of any doctor to conduct the post-mortem, their bodies were returned to the relatives without post-mortem. The villagers have accused the hospital of negligence. They say that if the victims had been treated on time, so many deaths would not have happened.

“Later, the others also succumbed to the poison, taking the total number of siblings to nine,” the paper quoted villagers as saying. The condition of the 10th victim was unstable and he was being treated in a hospital, they said.

Regarding the incident, the police said that investigation has been started. Meanwhile, a team of Sukkur food officials have collected samples of the leftover food consumed by the victims. Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has directed the Sukkur Commissioner to conduct a thorough investigation to find out the cause of the deaths. (Language)
