During a Halloween party here, 120 people died in a stampede, while more than 150 people were seriously injured. According to fire officials, a Halloween party was going on in Itawan, Yongsan-gu, central Seoul. Meanwhile, in an attempt to move forward on a road, a stampede broke out and people started crushing each other. The fire department started receiving reports of shortness of breath at 10:22 pm. Police team immediately reached the spot. There 120 people were found dead. Of these, 74 were taken to the hospital, while 46 have been accommodated in a nearby multipurpose indoor gymnasium. Efforts are on to identify the dead. Most of those who died so far were 20 years old. Officials say the number of casualties will continue to rise.
More people engaged in relief work till 11:50 pm
The fire department issued the first phase response at 10:38 pm. After this the fire brigade gave the third phase reaction at 11:50 pm. A total of 848 personnel including 364 fire fighters were engaged in relief work, while 142 ambulances were also deployed.
Those with cardiac arrest found around 11:30 pm
According to the report, around 11:30 pm, rescue workers were doing CPR for dozens of unconscious people near the Hamilton Hotel in Itawan. Initial reports said that around 50 patients were experiencing cardiac arrest at the scene.
Lee called a meeting at around 1 pm on Sunday night
About two hours after the accident, South Korean President Yoon Suk-yol called an emergency meeting and instructed officials to send a disaster medical aid team quickly, which took place at around 12:30 on Sunday night. Dozens of people were experiencing heart failure in Itaewon, central Seoul, at around 1 p.m., with the president immediately asking all departments to be on alert.

Around 2 o’clock in the night, the President of South Korea asked the Health Minister to send the disaster medical aid team as soon as possible and reserve emergency beds in nearby hospitals. Under the leadership of Interior Minister Lee Sang-min, all relevant ministries and institutions were instructed to provide immediate first aid and treatment to the victims.
