Mission to the Moon in China

Beijing: The lunar samples brought back from the far side of the moon by China’s ‘Chang E-6’ mission show some “features” compared to the lunar samples obtained earlier. This information has been given in a research paper published by scientists. A team of Chinese scientists said in its first research paper published on samples obtained from the far side of the moon that the density of ‘Chang E-6’ soil samples is less than the samples obtained from other parts of the moon. The amount of ‘plagioclase’ in the ‘Chang E-6’ samples is much higher than the ‘Chang E-5’ samples while their amount of ‘olivine’ is much less. ‘Plagioclase’ is the most common and abundant mineral group in the Earth’s crust. ‘Olivine’ is a green rock-forming mineral that is mainly found in dark igneous rocks. The study also revealed that the rock samples of ‘Chang’e-6’ are mainly composed of basalts, breccias, agglutinates, glasses and leucocrets.

found out this thing

Geochemical analysis of the Chang’e-6 lunar samples showed that the concentrations of trace elements such as thorium, uranium and potassium in them are significantly different from those obtained by the Apollo missions and the Chang’e-5 mission, state-run Xinhua news agency reported. In May this year, China launched a 53-day lunar exploration mission to collect samples from the far side of the moon for the first time and bring them to Earth for scientific study, the first of its kind in the history of human lunar exploration, according to the China National Space Administration (CNSA). Chang’e-6 consists of four components including an orbiter, a lander, an ascender and a module.

Samples brought from the far side of the Moon

The ‘Chang E-6’ spacecraft brought 1,935.3 grams of samples from the far side of the moon in June. The study was jointly conducted by members of the National Astronomical Observatories of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Lunar Exploration and Space Engineering Center and the Beijing Spacecraft System Engineering Institute. Chinese scientists found water molecules in the lunar soil in July this year while studying lunar soil samples brought by China’s ‘Chang E-5’ mission in 2020. According to the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), based on lunar soil samples brought by China’s ‘Chang E-5’ mission in 2020, Chinese scientists have found a hydrated mineral “rich” in molecular water. India’s Chandrayaan-1 spacecraft found signs of hydrated minerals in the form of oxygen and hydrogen molecules in the sunlit areas of the moon in 2009. (Language)
