Warsaw: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has left for a historic visit to Ukraine today after concluding his two-day “fruitful” visit to Poland. He is currently on his way. PM Modi is going to Ukraine from Poland by train. During this, he will travel for 10 hours by train. PM Modi is expected to reach Ukraine tonight. Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Ukraine, exactly 6 weeks after his visit to Russia, is being considered quite historic.
Before leaving for Ukraine, the Prime Minister held extensive talks with the Polish leadership. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said on X, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi completed his fruitful visit to Poland, which is a new milestone in bilateral relations. This high-level visit of the Prime Minister after four decades will broaden and deepen India-Poland relations.” Modi, who went to Ukraine at the invitation of President Volodymyr Zelensky, has said that he will share his views with the Ukrainian leader on a peaceful solution to the ongoing conflict.
This is the first visit of an Indian PM to Ukraine after Ukraine’s independence.
This is the first visit of an Indian Prime Minister to Ukraine since Ukraine became independent in 1991. Modi said, “I look forward to the opportunity to take forward the dialogue with President Zelensky to strengthen bilateral cooperation and share views on a peaceful solution to the Ukraine conflict.” He said, “As a friend and partner, we hope for an early return of peace and stability in the region.” Modi will travel to the Ukrainian capital Kyiv by train amid tight security and the journey will take him about 10 hours. India has not yet condemned the Russian attack on Ukraine and is calling for a resolution of the conflict through dialogue and diplomacy.

Before leaving Warsaw, Modi said his visit to Poland was “special”. “It is after decades that an Indian Prime Minister has set foot on Polish soil,” Modi said in a post on X at the end of his visit to Warsaw. Modi arrived in Poland on Wednesday on the first leg of his two-nation visit. His visit to Poland is the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to this country in the last 45 years. “This visit provided an opportunity to further deepen cooperation with a valuable friend. We look forward to closer trade and cultural ties with Poland. Our friendship can certainly contribute to building a better world,” the Prime Minister said. (Language)
