The latest case is related to former Foreign Minister of Pakistan Shah Mahmood Qureshi. Shah Mahmood Qureshi, vice president of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party led by former Prime Minister Imran Khan, was arrested again from outside Adiala jail on Wednesday. The Supreme Court had granted him bail in the cipher case only last week.
Qureshi was protesting by shouting
According to Pakistani media, 67-year-old Qureshi was shouting and protesting, terming the police action as ‘illegal’. In the footage, an officer wearing Punjab Police uniform is seen pushing him into the armored vehicle. The party said in a post on ‘X’ that Qureshi was arrested again from outside Adiala jail after being released on bail in the cipher case. The party said the order issued by Rawalpindi Deputy Commissioner Hasan Waqar Cheema on Tuesday for Qureshi’s 15-day detention was withdrawn.
‘I am innocent, I am being targeted’
According to reports, the police has not issued any statement on this issue till the time of writing the news. While being forcibly taken away by the policemen, Shah Mahmood Qureshi was continuously saying that he was being arrested illegally. Qureshi said that the police is making fun of the Supreme Court order and cruelty and injustice is at its peak. “They are arresting me again in a false case,” he said. I represent the nation, I am innocent and I am being targeted for political vendetta without any reason.
Qureshi and Imran were granted bail
Let us tell you that the country’s top court had on Friday granted bail to former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his close aide Qureshi in the cipher case. The court had asked both the leaders to deposit a bail amount of Rs 10 lakh each.
