Army sergeant surprises his daughter at school after 13 months – Latest US News Hub


A special surprise for a little girl at Oakdale Elementary School. The father of a third-grader has been employed for more than a year, but on Tuesday evening he was able to jump into his arms again. “It’s really important that these kids get an opportunity to understand the role of our veterans and how important it is to honor them and thank them for everything they’ve done for us,” said Oakdale Elementary School music teacher Mandy Mejia. On Tuesday night, Oakdale held its annual Hosted a Veterans Day concert where students sang and wrote messages to honor those who sacrificed their lives for our freedom. Third grader Lona Long hasn’t seen her father in 13 months. He’s stationed in Arizona, but he surprised her in front of an entire crowd Tuesday evening when she was paying a special tribute to her father. “Honestly, I’m very grateful that he’s able to be here,” Launa said. Her father, Army Sergeant Dominic Long, said she is looking forward to spending time with her family now that she is home, especially with Thanksgiving. “It definitely feels great, missing my daughter and it’s nice to be back home,” Long said. “It means a lot you know, I miss my daughter like crazy and I’m glad I was able to be here for her.” A moment and hugs Launa and her father says they will cherish forever.
