32 Chinese warships hovering around Taiwan
China on Taiwan: China has once again expressed its aggressive intentions by sending not just one but 32 warships around Taiwan. According to the report of AFP news agency, this claim has been made by Taiwan’s Defense Ministry. Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defense (MND) monitored 32 Chinese military aircraft and five People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) ships over a 24-hour period from 6 a.m. on Wednesday to Thursday, March 21. Of these 32 warplanes, 20 crossed the midline of the Taiwan Strait and entered Taiwan’s southwestern, southeastern and eastern areas or ADIZ. This is not the first time that a Chinese fighter plane has been detected near the Taiwan border.
The MND said Taiwan’s armed forces monitored the situation and deployed CAP aircraft, navy ships and coastal missile systems in response to activities detected in its territory. The Ministry of National Defense reportedly tracked 15 Chinese military aircraft and 10 naval vessels across Taiwan between 6 a.m. on Tuesday March 19 and 6 a.m. on Wednesday March 20, Taiwan News reports.
6 out of 15 warplanes entered Taiwan’s territory
According to the MND, six of the 15 Chinese warplanes entered the south-west corner of Taiwan’s Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ). However, according to Taiwan News report, no PLA aircraft had crossed the Taiwan Strait midline at that time. In response, Taiwan sent aircraft and naval ships to monitor the activities of the Chinese army and deployed its air defense missile system.
