Gunmen opened fire in Karachi clinic
Pakistani officials said on Wednesday that unidentified gunmen opened fire inside a dental clinic in the city of Karachi on Wednesday, killing a Chinese national and injuring two others. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), (South) Asad Raza had said that the attackers entered the clinic in Sadar area of Karachi posing as a patient and started firing after reaching the dentist’s room.
There have been attacks on Chinese citizens in the past too.
Significantly, in April, three Chinese civilians were killed in a suicide bombing at Karachi University by the separatist Baloch Liberation Army. In July 2021, gunmen attacked a vehicle carrying two Chinese workers at a nuclear power plant in Karachi. Firing took place, in which both were injured. Earlier, nine Chinese engineers were killed in a suicide attack at Dasu in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Upper Kohistan district. Apart from this, four Pakistani nationals also died.
