Former US President Donald Trump has come in support of the media regarding one of his own cases. In fact, the American media has sought permission to live telecast the ongoing court proceedings against Trump. Till now the court is hearing this case in closed room. The media has not been allowed to be present during the hearing. In such a situation, media organizations have sought permission from the court to show the live proceedings. Donald Trump is in support of this demand of the media.
Trump has supported media organizations’ request to televise the hearing in Washington in the federal election interference case filed against him. Media organizations have said that the hearing of the historic case should be shown to the American public. However, the Justice Department has opposed telecasting the hearing, scheduled for March 2024, saying federal court rules do not permit telecasting of the hearing. Whereas the American public is interested in taking moment-to-moment updates about this matter.
Trump’s lawyers made this appeal to the court
Former President Trump’s lawyers said in court papers Friday night, “Every person in America and beyond should have the opportunity to watch this case go to trial. President Trump completely agrees, but requests a telecast of the entire hearing. A case was registered against Trump on charges of attempting to overturn the results of the 2020 election.
