Washington: Republican candidate and former President Donald Trump’s troubles may increase before the US presidential election in November. The US government has now filed a fresh indictment against Trump. The US federal government has filed this indictment in a new way in connection with the riots that took place in the US Parliament complex ‘Capitol Hill’ after the 2020 presidential election. This time, a fresh indictment has been filed against former President Donald Trump on Tuesday and the charges against him have been limited.
In fact, the Supreme Court had recently given a decision regarding the immunity of former presidents from prosecution, after which a fresh charge has been filed and that part of the old charge has been removed, in which Trump was accused of trying to use the law enforcement powers of the Ministry of Justice to overturn his defeat in the election. The Supreme Court had ruled last month by a majority of six against three that Trump is completely immune from the charges in this regard.
Serious allegation made by Trump on impeachment
The Supreme Court had asked prosecutors and defense lawyers to tell how they want to proceed in the case after its decision regarding possible immunity of former presidents from prosecution for official acts of the ‘White House’ (official residence and office of the US President). Special counsel Jack Smith filed a fresh indictment three days before the deadline to tell. In a statement shared on the social media platform ‘Truth Social’, Trump called the new indictment a “desperate step” and said that this indictment is another attempt to target him. He said that the new indictment also has “all the problems that were in the old indictment and it should be dismissed immediately.”
