For this, former UK Finance Minister and prime ministerial candidate Rishi Sunak has praised Johnson. Sunak said Johnson led the UK in some of the toughest challenges, including Brexit, the COVID vaccine rollout and the war in Ukraine.

Indian-origin British politician Rishi Sunak tweeted, “Boris Johnson delivered Brexit and the great vaccine roll-out. He faced some of the toughest challenges our nation faced and then faced Putin and his barbaric war in Ukraine. We will always be grateful to him for this. Though he has decided not to contest for PM again, I hope he will continue to contribute to public life at home and abroad.”

According to UK media reports, Rishi Sunak is now extremely close to becoming Prime Minister after Boris Johnson was out of the race.
