Foreign guests arrive in Pakistan for SCO Summit, Army deployed in Islamabad – Hindustan News Hub

Islamabad: Foreign delegations started arriving in Pakistan on Sunday for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit. To maintain law and order during the program, tight security arrangements have been made in the national capital Islamabad with deployment of army. ‘Geo News’ quoting airport sources said that a 76-member delegation of Russia and seven representatives of SCO have reached Pakistan. Apart from this, a four-member official delegation of India has also reached Pakistan. A 15-member delegation from China, a four-member delegation from Kyrgyzstan and a two-member delegation from Iran have also reached Islamabad.

Strong security arrangements

The 23rd meeting of the heads of government of the SCO member countries will be held in Islamabad on October 15 and 16, for which the authorities have made tight security arrangements. Islamabad Inspector General of Police (IGP) Nasir Ali Rizvi said in a statement that a “comprehensive” security plan has been prepared ahead of the summit in the capital. He said that security personnel will be deployed at hotels and places where foreign delegations are staying. He said that he will ensure the safety of foreign leaders, delegations and guests. Rizvi said that search and information-based operations are being conducted and personnel of Pakistan Army, intelligence agencies, Frontier Corps (FC) and Rangers have been deployed.

Ban on demonstrations and rallies

The police chief said that more than 9,000 personnel of the police force have been deployed for security and “a traffic plan has also been issued for the convenience of the citizens.” The government has made arrangements to deal with any untoward situation in the capital. The army has already been deployed and all types of protests and rallies have been banned in Islamabad, neighboring Rawalpindi and some other cities.

‘Pakistan is ready’

Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said that Pakistan is fully prepared to host the SCO summit. “We are ready to warmly welcome the leaders participating in the summit, including the Indian Foreign Minister,” he told the media during an event in Islamabad to review the arrangements for the event. After hosting a big international event, he will fulfill his responsibilities in the best possible manner. Dar said that the Chinese Prime Minister will also hold bilateral talks with his Pakistani counterpart. He said India has not made any request for a bilateral meeting.

PTI has threatened to protest

Meanwhile, let us also tell here that, ‘Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’ party has threatened to protest on October 15 against the ban imposed on its jailed leader Imran Khan and has demanded that the government should Allow access to family, legal team and doctor. Without naming Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Dar criticized the party for trying to sabotage the summit by calling for protests. “Protests during nationally important events do not send a positive message,” Dar said. The SCO includes Pakistan, China, India, Russia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Belarus – the 16 other country observers. or are associated as “negotiating partners”.
