Germany Train: Painful death of a child hit by a train, many people were involved in the incident, police engaged in investigation

Berlin. A child died and another was seriously injured on Thursday after being hit and dragged by a train along a railway line in the western German city of Recklinghausen. Bild newspaper gave this information citing local officials.

Police confirmed the incident and said that several youths were involved in the train accident, but refused to divulge more. Bild said the victims were dragged for several hundred meters (yards) by a freight train. The accident happened between two stations.

While it was not clear how the accident happened and whether more children were involved, local media reports said some 35 firefighters and rescue workers were deployed to the crash site near a former freight yard .

He further said that rescue teams are searching the track bed and using drones to search for the victims. Recklinghausen police refused to give information when asked how many people were injured or whether anyone died in the accident.
