Yana Mir, a journalist from the Indian union territory of Jammu and Kashmir, surprised the audience with her statement during an event at the British Parliament House. The event was organized by the Jammu Kashmir Study Centre, UK (JKSC), which describes itself on microblogging site ‘X’ as ‘a think-tank dedicated to the study of Jammu and Kashmir’. This program was organized at the British Parliament House to commemorate ‘Sankalp Diwas’.

Yana received Diversity Ambassador Award

During the ceremony, Yana received the Diversity Ambassador Award and gave a keynote speech. During this, she said, “I am not Malala Yousafzai. Because I am free and safe in my country India, in my home Kashmir, which is a part of India. I can say that I will never run away from my country. Will have to,” he can be heard saying in the video of the incident.

Malala had left Pakistan

Pakistani activist and Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai was shot by Taliban militants in her hometown in the country after she went to school following the Taliban’s ban on girls’ education. Yousafzai left Pakistan and later became a voice for human rights and girls’ education, thus turning herself into a global icon.

Appreciation of efforts of Indian Army

During his speech Mir also lauded the efforts of the Indian Army in helping the youth to give up violence and creating opportunities in sports and education. During the ‘Resolution Day’ event at the British Parliament House, participants stressed India’s right to reclaim Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK). JKSC has said that more than 100 dignitaries attended the program. Attendees included Members of the UK Parliament, local councillors, community leaders and more. UK MPs attending the event were Bob Blackman, Theresa Villiers, Elliot Colburn and Virendra Sharma.
