Islamabad: There has been a lot of tension between Pakistan and Iran for the last few days. Both the countries have violated each other’s border and carried out attacks in which people have lost their lives. Meanwhile, a meeting was held in Pakistan on Friday which is being discussed a lot. According to reports, Pakistan’s caretaker Prime Minister, cabinet ministers and armed forces chiefs held a high-level meeting on Friday amid the ongoing standoff with Iran. Let us tell you that just before this, both the neighboring countries had agreed to repair the relations that had deteriorated after their military attacks in each other’s territory.
Many senior officers were present in the meeting
According to sources, this meeting of the National Security Council (NSC) was presided over by acting Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar. The chiefs of the three armed forces, cabinet ministers along with many other officials were also present in it. Sources said Defense and Foreign Ministry officials briefed the meeting about the attack by Iran and the counter-attack by Pakistani armed forces. He said the NSC is likely to issue guidelines regarding future relations with Iran. Kakar returned home from Davos on Thursday night. He had gone to attend the World Economic Forum event after Pakistan and Iran launched military attacks against each other.
Tension still persists between the two countries
Before the meeting, Pakistan Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani and his Iranian counterpart Hussein Amir Abdullahian held a telephone conversation. During the talks, both agreed on the spirit of ‘mutual trust and cooperation’ and the need for close cooperation on security issues. After the NSC meeting, there will be a meeting of the Federal Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister. Experts believe that tension between the two countries regarding terrorist activities may increase in the coming days. Iran often raises issues of cross-border terrorism and has taken action from time to time.
