Is there an international conspiracy to remove him from power? Big statement of Bangladesh PM Hasina

Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina addressing an election rally.

Dhaka: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Saturday expressed confidence that the people of Bangladesh will give a befitting reply to the efforts of international conspirators to remove her from power in the January 7 elections. Hasina, president of the ruling Awami League party, said she wants the 12th parliamentary elections to be conducted peacefully. He said, ‘We will participate in the January 7 elections with our party’s election symbol boat. Go to the polling stations early to cast your vote and show the world that we can conduct elections in a free, fair and neutral manner.

‘Many types of conspiracies are being hatched’

Sheikh Hasina, while addressing an election rally in Tungipada, about 170 km south-west of Dhaka, said, ‘Various conspiracies are being hatched to thwart the elections. Many people are also involved at the international level. They are working to bring a third party to power in Bangladesh. We will give a befitting reply to the conspiracies through the January 7 elections. What can a third party do? They cannot bring any development in the country. You saw what he did in 2007.

BNP is boycotting the elections

Amid increasing violence, the BNP led by former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia has announced that it will boycott the elections. BNP had also boycotted the 2014 elections, but took part in the 2018 elections. Earlier in the year the US and other major Western countries called for talks between the ruling Awami League and the opposition to ensure inclusive and credible elections, although no progress was made due to reluctance on both sides. Hasina has been holding the post of Prime Minister in the country for the longest time. His first term as Prime Minister was from 1996 to 2001.

‘BNP is a terrorist party’

76-year-old Hasina has held the post of Prime Minister since 2001, from 2009 to 2014, from 2014 to 2019 and from 2019 till now. Terming the opposition BNP as a ‘terrorist party’ and Jamaat-e-Islami as an ‘organization of war criminals’, Prime Minister Hasina said that they have no ability to take the country forward. Hasina strongly criticized the alleged criminal acts of BNP-Jamaat leaders and compared it to the killings of children and women in hospitals in Gaza. He said that if his party comes back to power, it will ensure an end to such crimes.
