Seoul: North Korea has taken its war preparations to their peak. Kim Jong’s army is continuously testing ballistic and cruise missiles. This has caused panic in neighboring South Korea. Once again North Korea has fired cruise missiles in the border area. South Korea’s military said on Sunday that North Korea had fired several cruise missiles from the waters off its eastern military port. North Korea has taken this step amid deepening tensions with America, South Korea and Japan.
South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff, however, did not provide information on how many missiles were fired or how far they reached. At present it is also not clear how the launches were carried out. However, North Korea has previously tested cruise missiles from ships or other means in the waters. This missile launch is the third such launch about which information has been received since the beginning of this year.
Missile test for the third time in a week
North Korea has created a stir by testing missiles for the third time in a week. Earlier, the country had tested a cruise missile on January 24 and its first solid-fuel based intermediate range ballistic missile on January 14. North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has stepped up weapons testing in the country in recent months and has threatened to respond to any challenge to the country, leading to heightened tensions on the Korean peninsula. Kim has warned America and its Asian allies of nuclear attack. In response, the US, South Korea and Japan are expanding joint military exercises. (AP)
