America and South Korea are doing military exercises
North Korea’s drone test comes as the US and South Korean military conducted a large-scale Ulchi Freedom Shield exercise, which has been going on since Thursday. The focus of the exercise was to prepare against North Korean threats. The three-day exercise began on Monday. South Korea’s Air Force said the exercise began with a precision bombing demonstration involving South Korea’s F-35 and F-16 fighter jets. The US and South Korea began a separate amphibious landing exercise involving several aircraft and ships from the two countries’ navies and marines, including US F-35 fighters and the amphibious warfare ship USS Boxer. South Korea’s military said the Ssangyong exercise will continue until September 7. Its purpose is to enhance combat interoperability. (AP)
