News of atrocities against people of Hindu community often comes from Pakistan.

Karachi: A case of kidnapping a minor Hindu girl and forcing her to marry an elderly man has come to light in Pakistan’s Sindh province. Giving information about this on Thursday, members of the Hindu community said that the girl was also forcibly converted to Islam. This case came to light when another minor Hindu girl who was kidnapped from Hyderabad a day earlier was handed back to her family on Wednesday on the orders of the court after a year-long struggle. Every year in Pakistan, many cases of kidnapping and forcing marriage of dozens of Hindu girls have been reported.

‘The girl’s religion was forcibly converted to Islam’

Shiva Fakir Kachi, head of the Pakistan Darawar Ittehad organisation, said that the 16-year-old girl was kidnapped from her village Hunguru on Wednesday and forcibly married to an older man. The man forcibly converted the girl to Islam. He said that the girl’s parents were also not allowed to meet her. Kachi said, ‘The girl was taken to a madrasa near Samura area and her Nikah was performed. When the parents went to the madrasa to see her on Thursday, the maulvi refused to let them in.’

‘This has now become a daily affair for Hindu families’

“It has now become a daily affair for Hindu families that their young daughters and sisters are forcibly taken to these places and converted and married to Muslim men,” Kachi said. A Hyderabad sessions court on Wednesday ordered the reunification of a girl with her family who was kidnapped from Hyderabad last year, converted and married to a Muslim man. Kachi said most Hindu families in Pakistan are poor, so their women are easy targets.

‘Even the government system does not support the victim in such cases’

Kachi further said that when Hindu women are kidnapped, their families face challenges in ensuring their return due to lack of support from the government system. He said that his organization representing the Hindu community will take legal recourse to recover the kidnapped teenager. Let us tell you that every year in Pakistan, dozens of girls from minority community are kidnapped and not only their religion is changed, but they are also forcibly married. (Language)
