Pakistan PM On China Visit : Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif is on his two-day visit to China. On Wednesday, he met Chinese President Xi Jinping. During this, President Xi, in a conversation with Shahbaz Sharif, said that he is working on the projects of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). Apart from this, expressing concern over the safety of Chinese citizens, he told the need for a safe environment for them. During this, Sharif agreed to further strengthen their evergreen friendship and the $ 60 billion CPEC. “I am deeply concerned about the safety of the Chinese people in Pakistan and hope that Pakistan is a reliable and reliable source of support for Chinese institutions and people visiting Pakistan for cooperation,” Xi said during his meeting with Sharif at the Great Hall of the People here. Sharif is the first head of government to meet since Xi’s re-election. In the recent Communist Party Congress, 69-year-old Xi has been re-elected for a third five-year term. Xi has expressed concern for the second time in nearly two months over the repeated attacks on Chinese civilians working in Pakistan by the Baloch Nationalist Army and other extremist groups.
First visit after becoming Prime Minister
This is also Sharif’s first visit to China after taking over as prime minister. However, this is his second meeting with Xi after becoming prime minister. He met Xi on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Samarkand, Uzbekistan last month. During his meeting with Shahbaz in Samarkand, Xi called for the protection of hundreds of Chinese workers working on CPEC projects. According to reports, China is pressurizing Pakistan to allow Chinese security agencies to protect its citizens amid repeated attacks on its workers.
