Diplomats were on morning walk
Pakistani mission in-charge Ubaidur Rehman Nizamani was targeted by unidentified gunmen while he was walking in the embassy premises. But the security personnel deployed for his protection saved him. Security guard Israr Mohammad is seriously injured and is undergoing treatment. The State Department strongly reprimanded the Taliban government of Afghanistan for this attack. Pakistan’s Foreign Office had said that it is the responsibility of the interim government of Afghanistan to investigate the attack, punish the culprits and ensure the safety of Pakistani diplomats and citizens.
PM Shahbaz condemned
Nijmani took charge of the Embassy of Pakistan on November 4. The attack was strongly condemned by the Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif. The embassy official said that the assailant came from behind the house and started firing. The ambassador told that the staff is completely safe but they are going behind the embassy building for security. Kabul police spokesman Khalid Jardan said that a suspect has been arrested in this. He was caught when the security personnel ran towards the embassy and started firing.
A few days ago, Pakistan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar went to Kabul to hold talks with Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaki on various topics. The topics include fresh threats from the Pakistani Taliban, which recently ended a months-long ceasefire with Pakistan. In Washington, US State Department spokesman Ned Price said the US condemned the embassy attack. “We express our condolences and wish speedy recovery to those injured in the violence,” he said.
