Large-scale protests have taken place in Multan, Vehari, Zafarwal, Jahania and Faisalabad cities of Punjab province regarding the incident. The protests began after reports surfaced on social media that a student of Lahore’s Gulberg Girls College was allegedly raped by a security guard in the ‘basement’ of the institute.

Police claimed to have the suspect in their custody, but he denied all allegations during interrogation. Information Minister of Punjab province Uzma Bukhari claimed that no incident of rape has taken place on the campus of any college.
