President Jinping to leave China for the first time after 2 years, will attend SCO summit

China President Xi Jinping in Samarkand: Chinese President Xi Jinping will leave China this week for the first time in two years. He will then travel to Kazakhstan and attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Uzbekistan.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said in a brief statement that Xi Jinping will attend the 22nd meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the SCO in Samarkand city and will travel to Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan from September 14 to 16. Xi will visit Kazakhstan on 14 September, which will be his first foreign visit since January 2020.

The Indian Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement on Sunday that Prime Minister Modi will visit Uzbekistan on September 15-16 to participate in the SCO and may also hold some bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the summit. The Ministry of External Affairs said that at the invitation of President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Prime Minister Modi will visit Samarkand on September 15-16 to attend the 22nd meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the SCO.
