Moscow: Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Monday that Ukraine had failed to carry out a diversionary move in the Kursk region, while Russian troops were advancing at their own pace in the Donbas. “The Russian armed forces are now controlling territories in terms of kilometres, instead of 200, 300 metres,” he said.
Not interested in ending the Ukraine war
The president said that Ukraine’s “provocations” will surely fail and Moscow will deal with those who infiltrate Russia’s territory and try to create instability here. He also said that Kiev may have to understand that it needs to resolve the conflict through negotiations. He added that Moscow never refused such talks, and accused the Ukrainian leadership of “not being interested in ending the fighting” because that would require them to hold new presidential elections after lifting martial law.
this is an act of provocation
“The current authorities are clearly not ready for this, their chances of re-election are low. That’s why they are not interested in ending the fighting, that’s why they made this provocation in the Kursk region, and earlier made a similar attempt in the Belgorod region,” Putin said. Amid all this, Russia will continue to defend its people in Donbass, he said, stressing that “our future is Russia’s future.” Moscow “cannot allow such hostile attempts by forces that hatch aggressive plans against our country and constantly try to destabilize the Russian Federation.” (IANS)
