Explosions In Kyiv: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky recently said that the end of the war had begun. He made this statement after the retreat of the Russian army in Kherson. A day after this statement, the news of two explosions in Kyiv has come to the fore. On Tuesday, 15 November 2022, at least two explosions were heard in Kyiv. A plume of smoke has been seen rising at the time of these blasts.
According to Reuters, President Volodymyr Zelensky addressed the leaders of the Group of 20 countries meeting in Bali via video conference and warned of air strikes across Ukraine hours after his address. This warning was followed by two explosions, which the city of Kyiv heard and saw smoke rising. At the same time, the spokesman of the Air Force of Ukraine says that Russia fired about 100 missiles in the attacks carried out across the country.
Blackout declared in Kyiv
After leaving Kherson, Russia has intensified its attack on the Ukrainian capital Kyiv. Two residential buildings have been targeted in two dangerous missile attacks on Kyiv by the Russian army on Tuesday. After the attack, the danger siren started sounding in the city. This is the biggest attack since the withdrawal of Russian forces from Kherson. At the same time, the air defense system deployed by Ukraine has also shot down many Russian missiles.
After this the Ukrainian authorities announced an emergency blackout. Russia attacked energy and other installations, soon after which power supply was stopped in other places including the capital Kyiv.
Officials described the situation as serious
A senior Ukrainian official described the situation as “serious” and urged countrymen to cut electricity use. Electricity provider DTEK announced an emergency ‘blackout’ in the capital. Officials have announced similar steps elsewhere as well. Kyiv Mayor Vitaly Klitschko said a body was found in a residential building in the city. Russia had targeted this building.
Russia’s reaction after Zelensky’s speech
After Zelensky’s address, Russia responded by saying that Russia has responded to Zelensky’s powerful speech at the G-20 with a new missile attack. Andrey Yermak, chief of the presidential staff, wrote on Twitter whether anyone seriously thinks the Kremlin really wants peace. He wants to obey orders. In the end terrorists always lose.
Zelensky claims the end of the war
Zelensky had said that we are slowly moving forward in the temporarily occupied areas of Russia. Walking the streets of Kherson, Zelensky said that liberating Kherson from Russian troops was the beginning of the end of the war. He had also accepted that a large number of people had died in the recapture of Kherson from Russia. Russia still controls about 70 percent of Kherson. However, Zelensky’s visit to Kherson was to encourage the army and the civilians.
