While the Prime Minister of India was on a visit to Russia last month and met Putin, now he has visited Ukraine and has also met President Zelensky. Prime Minister Modi has advised Ukraine and Russia that both countries should find a way to peace, India is ready to help in every possible way in this direction.
If the countries of the world stop buying oil
After meeting PM Modi, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Friday that if other countries of the world, including India, stop buying oil from Russia at discounted prices, then Putin will face “big challenges”. India is buying oil from Russia despite sanctions imposed after the invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, which has been criticized by Western countries. India used to import less than one percent of oil from Russia before the Ukraine war started, which has now increased to about 40 percent of India’s total oil imports.
Putin is proud of Russia’s oil
Pointing to important contracts between India and Russia in terms of oil, Zelensky said on Friday, “Putin is afraid of ruining the economy, he has nothing but oil, his main currency is oil and he is proud of that. Zelensky said that he has a kind of energy-based economy, and he exports that only.” He said that if other countries of the world including India stop buying oil from Russia at discounted prices, then “big challenges” will arise in front of it.
