According to the report, Routh has been donating to Democratic Party candidates since 2019.

In a press conference regarding this entire incident, Rafael Barros, the special agent in charge in Miami, said that the Secret Service agent opened fire on a gunman present near the boundary of the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach. He said that the agency cannot say for sure whether the arrested accused also fired at our agent or not. The US Secret Service agent hiding at some distance from where Trump was playing golf saw that the barrel of a rifle was visible from among the bushes at a distance of about 400 yards. Palm Beach County Sheriff Rick Bradshaw said that an agent fired shots after which the suspect present there fled.

After this incident, Trump sent a message to his supporters saying, “There were sounds of gunfire around me, but before the rumors get out of control, I want to tell you that I am safe and fine.” He wrote, “Nothing can stop me.” Trump thanked and praised the ‘Secret Service’ and law enforcement officials for ensuring his safety during the second attempt to assassinate him.
