SCO Summit: S Jaishankar will represent India in the CHG meeting – Hindustan News Hub

New Delhi: India’s Foreign Minister S Jaishankar is in Pakistan’s capital Islamabad to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization meeting. Jaishankar will participate in talks on trade and economy on the second day of the SCO summit. Earlier on Tuesday, there was a discussion on strengthening bilateral partnership between External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Mongolian Prime Minister Luvsannamsren Oyun-Erdene, who arrived to participate in the SCO summit. Jaishankar himself gave information about this by posting a picture on social media platform X.

S Jaishankar met Shahbaz Sharif

Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday hosted a dinner in honor of the representatives of SCO member countries at his residence. Meanwhile, Sharif and Jaishankar greeted each other. Jaishankar and Sharif shook hands warmly and talked briefly. However, there was no sign of any softening in the strained relations between the two sides.

CHG meeting

Pakistan is hosting the SCO meeting amid tight security. The main conference will be held on Wednesday. The 23rd meeting of the SCO Council of Heads of Government (CHG) will be held in Islamabad under the chairmanship of Pakistan. The SCO CHG meeting is held annually. This meeting focuses on the trade and economic agenda of the organization.

External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar will represent India in the meeting of the SCO Heads of Government Council. The SCO CHG meets annually and focuses on the organization’s trade and economic agenda. India is actively involved in the SCO framework, including several mechanisms and initiatives.
