Sheriff Says All Expected to Recover After Seven Shots at Louisiana Street Party

THIBODAUX, La. (AP) — Seven people who were struck when gunfire erupted at a weekend street party in south Louisiana are expected to recover, law enforcement officials said Monday.

Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre said the brief burst of gunfire happened Sunday night during a street party in Thibodaux. There was evidence that two handguns were fired during the incident, he said.

No suspects have been named, and it’s unclear who the target or targets were. Two men and five women ranging in age from 17 to 25 were hit by bullets. Two other people were hurt as the crowd disbursed in panic.

Investigators are seeking the public’s help in finding the shooters, Lafourche said.
